Most Poles say country should seek war reparations from Germany

More than half of Polish adults -- 54% -- believe their country should demand reparations from Germany for the damage it inflicted during World War II, according to a survey.

Meanwhile, 36% were of the opposite opinion, the study by pollster CBOS found.

At the same time, 45% believed that Poland could lose more than it gained from seeking compensation, while 31% said that potential gains could outweigh the losses.

And three-quarters of respondents did not believe that any efforts to obtain reparations would prove successful.

In addition, 71% were worried that seeking damages would harm relations with Germany, according to the poll.
