WASHINGTON — Russia’s RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, also known as “Satan 2,” that has enough power to wipe out Texas or France has been delayed, reported  Newsweek .

Russia has been testing the system since last year, and it is expected it to be ready for use in 2018, but further testing on the system has been delayed according to The Moscow Times.

“[Silo launch] testing of the Sarmat from the Plesetsk launch facility in March won’t happen,” an unidentified Russian defense industry source told TASS new agency. “It has been shifted back to the second quarter of 2017, likely in April.”

The nuclear weapons delivery system is designed to replace RS-36M, according to Newsweek.

TASS could not get an official conformation on why the testing has been delayed, but the delay is needed for further testing of the missile’s hardware, according to The Moscow Times.
